New Ranks and Degree Awards

 

 

JKA of Vermont

    DAN Awards and Rank Certificate Ceremony. January 14, 2009. Budokan Club Dojo

    Rank Award Ceremony : The following students tested under JKA guidelines and received the following ranks

  1. Marcia Blanco: Second Degree Blackl Belt ( Ni-Dan)
  2. Naoko Tsuyuki: First Degree Black Belt. (Sho-Dan)
  3. Erica Williams : 3 Kyu (Brown Belt)

    On January 14 a Rank ceremony Award was held at the Budokan Club Dojo

TESTING PROCEDURES

Students will test every three months and a new belt and rank certificate will be awarded by Japan Karate Association when merited.

Testing requirements will include:

  1. Training hours, attitude and commitment
  2. Basic techniques
  3. Kata
  4. Sparring
  5. Etiquette, manners and behavior
  6. Skills and limitations
  7. Level of improvement

Ranks & Belt Levels

 

   9ht Kyu (White belt)
   8th Kyu-B (Yellow belt and Certificate)
   8th Kyu (Yellow belt and Certificate)
   Kata: HEIAN SHODAN

   7th Kyu-B (Orange belt and Certificate)
   7th Kyu (Orange belt and Certificate)
   Kata: HEIAN NIDAN

   6th Kyu-B (Red belt and Certificate)
   6th Kyu (Red belt and Certificate)
   Kata: HEIAN SANDAN

   5th Kyu-B (Green Belt and Certificate)
   5th Kyu (Green Belt and Certificate)
   Kata: HEIAN YONDAN

   4th Kyu-B (Blue Belt and Certificate)
   4th Kyu (Blue Belt and Certificate)
   Kata: HEIAN GODAN

   3rd Kyu-B (Purple belt and Certificate)
   3rd Kyu (Purple belt and Certificate)
   Kata: TEKI SHODAN

   2nd Kyu-B (Brown Belt and Certificate)
   2nd Kyu (Brown Belt and Certificate)
   Kata: KANKU DAI / BASAI DAI

   1st Kyu-B (Brown belt and Certificate)
   1st Kyu (Brown belt and Certificate)
   Kata: JION / EMPI

   Black Belt (Shodan) and up.
   Membership and registration with the Japan Karate Association (Japan) is required for black belt certification and rank. Dan certificates are awarded and provided by J.K.A. headquarters in Japan.

 

Testing Fees

Fees vary according to rank and include the cost of the new belt and certificate
