Japan Karate Association of Brooklyn founded in 1972, offers training in traditional Shotokan Karate-Do. The school is affiliated with the Japan Karate Association (JKA), a world-wide organization dedicated to encourage and assist students in their growth and understanding of Shotokan, and to promote the development of the art generally. It is also a member of Shotokan Karate-do International (SKDI). SKDI operates out of New York City and serves as the headquarters for many JKA clubs worldwide. |

The UConn Karate Club is affiliated with Shotokan Karate-Do International, which is headquartered in New York City under the direction of Master Masataka Mori, 8th dan.
